Men love to spa, too. Although some men may be intimidated when it comes to their first spa experience, once men have had a spa treatment they usually are hooked and many become spa devotees. They realize that taking time out for a lomilomi massage, a gentleman's facial or sports pedicure can help return a sense of balance to an otherwise pressure-filled lifestyle.
Manly men see a spa visit as a way to relax and unwind, enjoy a spa treatment or two and perhaps a good workout. They may be athletes who book a massage to limber up or speed up their recovery time between training. Or they may be the new breed of Renaissance man who is comfortable spending a couple of hours at a spa getting a facial, a massage or a pedicure. Or they may be joining their wives or girlfriends for a couple's treatment.
If you are introducing a male client to spa-ing, keep in mind that they are often more comfortable starting out with a men's facial rather than an overall massage.
If he does want to try a massage, remind him that he can choose either a male or female therapist. Men love Hawaii's pohaku (stone) massage, so suggest this very therapeutic hot stone massage, which will melt away muscular tension along with any inhibitions they might have about stepping foot in a spa.
