On the First Friday of every month, Downtown Honolulu opens the doors of its bistros, art galleries, restaurants, bars, and even its tattoo parlors and treats you to live music and free entertainment. On any other night, catch the latest broad way hit, listen to the legendary Hawaiian music of the Brothers Cazimero, or watch the Iona Contemporary Dance Theatre create a feast for the senses at the historic Hawai‘i Theatre, the “Pride of the Pacific”. Tucked in and around the theatre, you will find a broad range of eateries from a charming wine and cheese bar to Chinese Fusion fine dining and Indo-Eurasian cool and casual. With its cool bars and restaurants, art galleries and museums, any night is a perfect night to play in Honolulu.


A Number of Ways to Enjoy Honolulu
Anytime is a good time to have a great time in hip and historic Honolulu. Every month, Oahu’s arts and culture community puts together fun and fabulous events. First Fridays, Second Saturdays, Third Thursdays, and ARTafterDARK are not be missed.

First Fridays
Every first Friday of the month, art lovers head to Downtown Honolulu for fabulous First Fridays. This monthly event has grown over the years and become a block party with galleries, studios, art demonstrations, and special performances. Second Saturdays
From the overwhelming success of First Fridays, the Second Saturday of every month now gives art lovers another opportunity to get serious about Oahu’s awesome art scene. Here’s your second chance to not miss the hot happenings. Free. Afternoons. www.artsatmarks.com

Third Thursdays
It’s Pau Hana time. This is local lingo for, after work festivities. On the Third Thursday of the month, join the downtown locals in their early celebration of the weekend to come. Third time is the charm. Free. Afternoons. www.artsatmarks.com

ArtAfterDark - Honolulu Academy of Arts
On the last Friday of every month, enjoy a festive themed evening celebrating the arts. Every month the Honolulu Academy of Arts throws a party filled with yummy pupus and drinks, music, films and activities perfect for those who love art, parties and fun. 6-9 pm. www.artsatmarks.com

For a fun night on any other day of the month:
Hawaii Theatre, "Pride of the Pacific"
Attend a concert performed by a local music legend, catch a famous New York broad way play or perhaps a local production infused with local culture and talent. The Hawaii Theatre, winner of 2005 "Outstanding Historic Theatre in America" by the League of Historic American Theatres, was built in 1922 as a showplace for vaudeville, plays, musicals and silent films. The Hawaii Theatre re-opened it doors in April 1996 as a multi-purpose state-of-the art performance center for all of Hawaii to enjoy.
